What are your responsibilities? The Customization, Modification and Upgrades (CM&U) Engineer Aero Solutions is responsible for design, development, and support of aeroderivative gas turbine solutions for power generation. This position will be engaged in all engineering aspects of assigned projects from concept through commissioning and long-term operation and support. This is a remote / telecommute position.
What will you do?
Hands-on CM&U Engineer and technical lead for developing and deploying aeroderivative gas turbine solutions.
Asist the Inquiry To Order (ITO) and the Order To Remittance (OTR) aspects of the business to overcome project barriers, manage risk, comply with project schedule and meet/exceed customer Critical to Quality (CTQ’s).
Key member of AP4’s Aero Engineering group in CM&U of complex gas turbine control and monitoring systems.
Assists Chief Engineer with product standardization and engineering process improvements to optimize execution and improve the products, services, and customer experience.
Manage multidisciplinary projects to identify and solve complex problems across all phases of ITO development.
Design solutions to be brought to market in support of AP4’s mission to improve reliability and extend life cycle in our select markets.
Provide support, advice, and guidance across the partner divisions in AP4.
Attend trade shows or customer facilities to represent AP4’s position and mission.
Utilize industry knowledge and experience to build and maintain customer relationships in the continuation and expansion of AP4’s business.
Assist with training processes and/or mentor AP4 personnel to continue the growth and development of future business leaders and managers.
Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering standards and processes.
Develop and implement standard templates and core software solutions to increase efficiencies and minimize re-work.
Develop and present technical documentation including hardware designs, electrical designs, functional design specifications, installation and commissioning plans, and project specific training presentations.
Develop and/or modify control system software and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
Participate in customer coordination meetings, site visits, design reviews, factory acceptance testing. and site acceptance testing.
Attract and recommend hiring new employees.
Travel as needed (up to 50%) in direct support of AP4 product deployment and/or customer needs.
What do you need to qualify for this role?
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
10 years of experience in engineering gas turbine systems, preferably aeroderivative.
Solid understanding of gas turbine control theory related to power generation.
Proficient in Rockwell Automation control (Studio 5000) and HMI (FactoryTalk) software
Proficient in industrial communications protocols including Ethernet/IP, EGD, Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850, etc.
Experience managing all aspects of complex projects.
Excellent leadership skills, technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Desired Skills and Experience
Prior experience with OEM turbine control hardware and software including Woodward Atlas, Netcon, MircoNet and MicroNet+ and GE Mark V, VI, and Vie.
Prior experience with PLC software including GE Logicmaster and Proficy Machine Edition.
Prior experience with HMI software including GE iFIX and Cimplicity, Wonderware, and Citect.
Prior experience configuring turbine control monitoring & protection systems including vibration, electrical protection, and fire and gas systems.
Drafting experience for mechanical and electrical design using AutoCAD or similar tools.
Prior experience and knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) control systems.
